Wait! What's the Weight?

FIRST......let's dispel the rumor that weight is the most important consideration when selecting a new paddle. Today's pickleball paddles have one thing in common....they're all light! The difference between a 7.5 oz paddle and a 7.8 oz paddle is 3 pennies. An 8 oz paddle weighs the same as a hamster! If you swear you can tell the difference, it's likely that what you are feeling is the difference in weight distribution between the two paddles, not actual weight differences. Why is this important? Because you should FIRST be focused on the paddle's design characteristics, not its weight. Some paddles are designed "head heavy," for more power and pop, some are designed "balanced," for more stability and less effort, and some are designed "aerodynamically," for faster movement and quicker response. Once you find the best design for your game, only then should you be looking at paddle weight.
